Serum contains the following active ingredients:
Antioxidants: Helps protect the skin from damage caused by environmental factors, pollution and free radicals, as well as damage from sunlight.
Retinol: They are derived from Vitamin A and have strong anti-aging properties. Retinol increases collagen production in our body and helps to address a variety of skin problems such as acne, wrinkles and fine lines.
Hyaluronic Acid: Also known as hyaluronic acid, hyaluronic acid is a natural substance produced by the body and is most abundant in the eyes, skin and other connective tissues. Hyaluronic acid keeps the skin moisturized and moisturized and prevents dryness by maintaining natural moisture levels.
Anti-inflammatory drugs-Many sera contain anti-inflammatory components such as Arnica, aloe vera, and zinc.
Essences are in many ways similar to moisturizers, but with many distinctive aspects.
Moisturizing ingredients include various ingredients such as vitamin E and mineral oil to smooth the surface of the skin. These ingredients act as a sealant that adheres to the surface of the skin, preventing the evaporation of water and softening the skin.
Serum, on the other hand, has less surface-sealing components because it is intended to penetrate deeply at the cellular level and produce targeted results.
Traditional serums are water-based. They nourish the inner layers of the skin because the molecules are relatively small and can penetrate deeper. Therefore, it is mainly applied before face cream. Oil-based serums have slightly larger molecules and are applied over moisturizers. As facial oils become more popular, many oils are also sold as serums.
Serum is concentrated. Therefore, if you have sensitive skin or are prone to allergies or skin reactions, please consult a dermatologist before use. It is always advisable to do a patch test before applying serum to the entire face. Avoid harsh chemicals and makeup when using serums. The effect may change. Also, people who are prone to serious skin problems such as eczema should use serum with caution.
Serum can be used day and night. Best applied immediately after cleaning and toning. If you apply serum in the morning, apply sunscreen. If you use serum at night, add a moisturizer. Do not apply too many layers at night as it will make the skin difficult to breathe.
Serum (especially those containing vitamin C) tends to break down when exposed to sunlight. Therefore, it is recommended to store it in a cool and dark place and use it within 6 months to 1 year as stated on the label. Certain strong components in serum tend to become unstable when in contact with air, so the cap must be re-tightened after each use.
For acne-prone skin: Look for a serum that contains salicylic acid, aloe vera, and vitamin C.
For dry skin: Look for sera containing vitamin E, niacinamide or glycolic acid.
For combination skins: Look for a serum that is lightweight and contains vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, or salicylic acid. For example, a mild serum fortified with Vitamin C or Vitamin E, in combination with any of the above acids, targets acne without drying the rest of the skin.
